This kit is for Magnum and Pro models serial number DJ-301M through DJ-1632M.

The early Magnum machines used a Black & Decker or De Walt motor that is no longer available. The motor that is currently available from De Walt has a different depth adjustment and will not work properly in these machines as built. This kit converts the early Magnum and Pro butt router assemblies to use the De Walt DW616 router motor.

The 26-0036-02 DW 616 Butt Router Conversion Kit applies to the Magnum series machine revisions "0-6" only. The conversion replaces the old router assembly and associated components with the DeWalt 616 router. Note: The DW616 comes with a 1/2" Dia. shank and 1/4-28 threads. The 1/4" or 5/8" radius bit must be purchased separately.

To reduce installation time and simplify the conversion some of the components have been preassembled. This includes the Butt Router carriage assembly and level switch. The upgrade will take approximately one hour to complete.

The steps required to complete the upgrade include removing the front plate, and butt router assembly to gain access to the pivot bar. The new pivot bar is required to relocate some of the electrical components. After replacement the new router carriage assembly is mounted on the slide rods and the front plate re-installed.

Since the new router utilizes a removable power cord, some of the electrical components have been consolidated. This will improve reliability and eliminate excess wire.

When the installation is complete, some adjustments are necessary to ensure that proper carriage alignment is achieved. A detailed adjustment procedure is included in the kit.

To reduce the risk of personal injury, make sure that the appropriate safety standards are followed. Proper Lockout- Tagout procedures protect you from the dangers of accidental or unexpected startup of machinery and equipment, or the release of hazardous energy during service and maintenance activities. It is a requirement for general industry by OSHA.

If problems are encountered during the installation, please call the Norfield Service Department at (800) 824-6242.
